I’m Back!

It’s been quite a while since I last posted. It’s so easy to get out of a routine and more challenging to get back into it! I had quite a busy summer and plan on sharing what “I Did On My Summer Vacation.” Remember the read-to-the-class introductions we had to do write for grade school? Well, a lot of us had to write those. My upcoming posts will fit very nicely into that niche.

Not only did I temporarily stop posting I stopped creating in my art journals! Gasp! Horrors! I still haven’t gotten any of my journals out. I’ve eyed them and looked at them with something akin to longing, but haven’t opened one. Yet. Baby steps, baby steps…

I have done a few crafty, creative things. I’ve finally, finally painted the river stones that have been sitting patiently in their bag outside. Since this is my first time painting on rocks, I wanted to keep it simple. I’m in love with how they turned out and have gotten very positive feedback. I’ve adorned my outside wall and they’ve really brightened up the place!

April Journal

Finally have a chance to post what my April journal looks like. I used a paper bag that just makes me smile. Tokyo Banana is a banana flavored and shaped confectionery similar in texture to a Twinkie  and filled with a sweet banana cream. Apparently it’s a signature Japanese sweet. My husband received a box as a gift and I just loved the bag it came in. It’s the perfect size for this month’s journal!

This was a departure from the non-sewn journals of the past 3 months. I love the stitching on the spine. I used another bag for the inside covers and the pages are recycled copy sheets I’ve used as test papers for other projects. There is also a couple wall calendar pages that, when folded were just the right size. Can’t wait to fill it up!

PS. Looking at these photos, I realized I hadn’t added the Journey Within’s logo as I had for the previous journals. I think I’ll add the logo on the inside cover so it won’t distract from the fun Tokyo Banana cover.

Selfie Stamp

For my birthday, the wonderful girls at my local arts and crafts store, Creative Hands, gave me this fabulous self-inking customized selfie stamp!!! The image is so crisp and clean and the ink for something like 10,000 stamps!!!! Crazy! Thanks, girls.

I’m off to make some cards and use my new stamp…
