Flamingos

Since the weather has cooled down quite a bit, I’ve been walking in a nearby park. There is a track that goes around a “pond” that is about 1700 meters. It’s usually full of water but this year it’s nearly empty. Not sure why it’s been drained, but imagine my delight when I saw that there were about 10 flamingos dredging the silt looking for food.

Dubai has a large population of resident flamingos in a nature reserve but you can’t get that great of a close-up look.  Obviously they’ve found another food source (even if it might be temporary) and I’m SO happy that they did! Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the zoom on my iPhone. It’s true that it does a great job at replacing the need to carry around a camera!
